ABOUT

I am Pá.ú.lú., a Brazilian-born visual artist based in the UK.

I create assemblages and interactive publications inspired by popular and vernacular traditions. My work brings elements of collective rituals, celebrations, and cultural practices into new contexts through objects, paper, print, and play.

Working with found objects, repurposed textiles, and recycled materials, I explore how materials and symbols carry stories of identity, memory, and belonging. Through collecting, transforming, and reassembling, I examine how traditions evolve as they travel across places, generations, and communities.

INDUSTRY

Our
Partners

I collaborate with communities, cultural organisations, and independent creatives connected to popular traditions, craft, and storytelling.

Through assemblage, participatory projects, artist publications, games, workshops, and creative resources, I create opportunities for people to explore traditions through making, playing, and sharing.

I support organisations in developing sustainable, socially engaged projects that connect audiences with cultural practices in meaningful and accessible ways.

Keeping popular traditions alive through making & Playing

IMG_9448.jpeg

Popular traditions are living forms of collective memory and community identity. My practice explores how they continue to evolve through participation, adaptation, and creative exchange.

By combining material reuse with hands-on making, play, and storytelling, I create experiences that help people build new connections with cultural histories while contributing to their ongoing transformation.

My practice unfolds through a series of interconnected bodies of work, each exploring popular traditions through assemblage, paper, print, and material experimentation.

Working with found objects, repurposed textiles, and recycled materials, I create artworks that transform everyday objects into new cultural narratives. Alongside these assemblages, my paper banners and prints reinterpret the visual language of celebrations, rituals, and collective traditions through contemporary making.

The works shown here include original artworks, limited editions, and selected commissions, each reflecting an ongoing exploration of memory, identity, material reuse, and the evolving nature of popular traditions.

 Artist's games &
       PUBLICATIONS

Publishing and play are extensions of my artistic practice.

Through artist’s games, publications, zines and booklets, I transform research into objects that can be handled, shared and experienced. Rooted in popular traditions, these works invite audiences to participate rather than remain passive observers.

Alongside my own publications, I provide editorial, design and publishing support for artists, cultural organisations and community projects. From early concept development through to print, I help shape ideas into thoughtful, accessible and engaging publications.
